IQA Course Descriptions

 | R-410A Certification |

This four hour training session is meant to provide the technician with the skills necessary to properly and efficiently install and service the new products with R410A refrigerant. The attendee will demonstrate technical competence by successfully completing a multiple choice test at the conclusion of the course. |
 | EPA Certification |

This class prepares the student to take and pass the EPA Certification test to safely identify and dispose of a wide range of refrigerants.

 | Basic Electricity |

Basic Electricity is a series of lectures and lab experiences designed to familiarize the beginning technician with electrical principles dealing with alternating and direct current, the operation of various types of circuits, and basic wiring diagram (schematic) reading, and drawing. This course is general and is not product-specific.

 | Heat Exchanger |

This comprehensive and practical course teaches inspection techniques and procedures that help service technicians determine the condition of a furnace heat exchanger. Whether you are a seasoned veteran or a layman, valuable knowledge can be obtained through this seminar. The techniques and methods are used by gas utility personnel, home inspectors, and heating contractors.

 | Hydronics |

Course is designed for both the experienced and novice residential heating technicians. Topics include pipe and fittings, near boiler piping, piping system layout, controls, zoning, heat loss, and material list.

 | Air Filtration Products, Application, & Systems |

This five-hour course encompasses air filtration and the products, applications, and systems involved in HVAC filtration. It is designed specifically for non-air filtration individuals who need to know the general application of air filtration. When students complete this course, they should know the effects of particulate and gas-phase contaminants on the environment, identify the type and efficiency of filters in a facility, understand the application and/or misapplication with knowledge for recommending corrections, and understand the overall application of the air system to the facility in which it is installed.

 | Basic Blueprint Reading for HVAC |

This nine-hour course introduces the student to various plans and how they represent a finished building. Plans will include plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and general construction. Parts to be shown in detail include symbols, the title block, and gridlines. Drawing plans will also be a part of this course.

 | Commercial Compressors |

This comprehensive session addresses why compressors fail from a service technician's perspective. This four-hour class offers the knowledge and skills necessary to identify probable system problems and make repairs necessary to avoid future failure.

 | Moisture, Microbials & HVAC Systems |

This three-hour course will explore definitions of microbials, microbial testing parameters, fungal sources, moisture movement in HVAC systems, remediation steps for contaminated systems, and abatement vs. remediation.

 | NATE Installation/Service Core Course |

The participants will study the core information necessary to become professional NATE certified technicians. This course will give the students the necessary skills to communicate with their customers and supervisors in a professional manner. Mathematics and basic science will be covered as well as the handling of hazardous materials, basic tools used in the refrigeration trade, basic electricity and heat transfer for total comfort. Safety in all phases of the trade will be stressed. |
 | NATE Heating - Warm Air Oil Service |

The participants will study the servicing of oil-fired warm air heating systems using manual and computer based programs as well as in house trainers. This course will give students the necessary skills to perform annual service and maintenance on oil-fired warm air systems. Piping of oil tanks, installing thermostats, start up procedures, combustion air requirements, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting will be included in this course.

 | Plumbing: Installation & Service of Hot Water Heaters |

This six-hour course introduces the student to procedures for installing and servicing gas-fired, electric, solar and indirect water heaters. Safety procedures will be discussed.
